A letter from family of Julie Meyer:
Our hearts are broken and our sadness is immense since the loss of our cherished daughter and sister Julie. We as a family will greatly miss our Julie but take comfort in knowing she is always with us. The kindness, Love, generosity and unwavering support you not only extended to Julie, but to us as well, has been a constant reminder of all the good in people of this island.
Many of you visited and lifted Julie’s spirits in her final days and reminisced with us your shared experiences. Shopping for “Jules” personal needs as well as ours was done without hesitation. Food was sent in abundance from delicious home cooked meals and baked goods to take-out as well as store bought items. Beautiful flower bouquets and arrangements, stuffed animals, an assortment of gifts and cards were delivered to cheer Julie up.
Several men mowed the lawn and cleared the yard of debris, and helped with tasks around the home. Pima was walked and spoiled by the neighbors, and the kitties were well taken care of. You opened your homes with accommodations for our extended family and offered your golf carts for transportation. The show of compassion, the thought and love that it took to assemble the ribbon tribute to Julie was beyond touching. The walk/run for breast cancer was an added reminder of your support.
Our last day taking Julie home to Mom and Dad’s from her beloved home on Daufuskie Island was made easier by the outpouring of kindness and help in a seamless transport off the island. Although our hearts were heavy knowing this would be her last day here, we will always remember the goodness and Love shown to Julie and her family. We thank all of you for making our sorrow easier to bear and will be forever grateful.
With Kind Regards,
The Sochacki Family
