Friday, September 16 — Boat trip to Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge: This is a very special opportunity! A charter boat trip from McClellanville to Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge with Joy Brown, The Nature Conservancy’s Marine Program Manager. We will meet at the McClellanville Town Hall boat ramp at 11:30am. Limited to 20 participants. $40 per person covers the boat charter fee.

Saturday, November 12 — An evening with Rowan Jacobsen: Author Rowan Jacobsen will read from his newly published work “The Essential Oyster.” This special event includes an oyster art show and an oyster-filled dinner prepared by Daufuskie’s own Sallie Ann Robinson. Details to follow.

Tour Daufuskie Now Open!

tdlogoIsland newcomer Bradley Hoover has teamed up with local artist Chase Allen in forming Tour Daufuskie, the island’s first comprehensive tour guide service. Offering kayak, bike and cart tours, Tour Daufuskie customers can choose from an adventure that highlights the ecology, and birds of the island or focus on its history and artisans. Tours are one and a half hours to a full day in duration. Both private and group tours are available. Stand up Paddle boarding will also be available.

From the Daufuskie Island Conservancy:

Reminder from The Daufuskie Island Conservancy. Another island clean up project is scheduled for Saturday, February 15th from 10AM – 4:00PM. and Sunday, February 16th from 1PM. to 4PM. Volunteers are needed and are asked to meet at the Mary Fields School where lunch will be provided and gloves and bags supplied. Dress for work in the woods.
